“The Rose Legacy” Book Review

Apr 6, 2015 by

Welcome back to Rachel’s Back Talk! I’m so glad you could join me again. Today I am reviewing Kristen Heitzmann’s novel, The Rose Legacy, which is the first book to her series, Diamond of the Rockies. This is the first book I’ve read of Kristen’s and it was so intriguing!

As is my custom, if I could ask Kristen one question about The Rose Legacy it would be — “Did you enjoy placing Carina in dangerous positions?” And if you want to know why I asked that question, I guess you’ll just have to read the book to find out!

And without further ado, on to Rachel’s Back Talk!

From the Back Cover:

Fleeing her idyllic home in Sonoma, California, Carina Maria DiGratia journeys to the mining town of Crystal, Colorado. Clinging to hopes of a new life, she finds reality has a harsh welcome for her. Overrun with men seeking their fortune and women bound by circumstance, the town hosts both dreams and nightmares, with little surety for tomorrow. But at least here Carina is far from the betrayal that still pierces her heart. Early on, two men vie for her trust, but neither is what he seems. Will Carina discern the truth and confront the turmoil hidden in her own heart in time to prevent tragedy?

The Rose Legacy was definitely an intriguing book that kept me turning the pages! I found myself so worried at the position Carina got herself in and even more so, I wondered how it would end! Kristen wove a masterful tale to be sure!

Carina’s character was one of a proper lady, yet she was thrown out of her comfort zone. She had to learn to adapt to her new surroundings. It took her awhile but I loved her determination and persistence. I also loved how real her faith journey was. Early on, she often had cause to question what she believed, but toward the end, I felt that she had answers for her doubts.

Quillan was a great addition to the book! He had a steadying sense, yet had the dark, foreboding side as well. Kristen has a way of developing characters that I felt I knew him.

Though the book ended suddenly with so much more to tell, I felt it ended in a satisfying way that left me happy and so ready to read the next book!

Other books by Kristen I will read next:
Sweet Boundless (Diamond of the Rockies Book #2)

The Tender Vine (Diamond of the Rockies #3)

Secrets (The Michelli Family Series Book #1)
