“The Number of Love” ~ Book Review
Welcome back to Rachel’s Back Talk! I’m so glad you could join me again. Today I am reviewing the first book to Roseanna White’s newest series, “The Codebreakers”: The Number of Love!
As is my custom, if I could ask Roseanna one question about The Number of Love, it would be — “Was it difficult to keep all of the different numbers straight in Margot’s mind?” And if you want to know why I asked that, I guess you’ll just have to read the book to find out!
And without further ado, onto Rachel’s Back Talk!
From the Back Cover:
Three years into the Great War, England’s greatest asset is their intelligence network–field agents risking their lives to gather information, and codebreakers able to crack every German telegram. Margot De Wilde thrives in the environment of the secretive Room 40, where she spends her days deciphering intercepted messages. But when her world is turned upside down by an unexpected loss, for the first time in her life numbers aren’t enough.
Drake Elton returns wounded from the field, followed by an enemy who just won’t give up. He’s smitten quickly by the intelligent Margot, but how can he convince a girl who lives entirely in her mind that sometimes life’s answers lie in the heart?
Amid biological warfare, encrypted letters, and a German spy who wants to destroy not just them but others they love, Margot and Drake will have to work together to save themselves from the very secrets that brought them together.

What a story of intrigue, adventure, and love! Roseanna certainly knows how to weave a powerful story that keeps you on the edge of your seat!! ?
Margot was a character you couldn’t help but fall in love with. She was different than most heroines in the fact that she wanted something different with her life than and that she has this uncanny ability with numbers and decoding hidden messages. Her personality was one that you had to keep peeling layer after layer away to discover her hidden depths and her absolutely fascinating personality.
Drake could potentially be one of my favorite heroes so far. I loved how from the moment he set eyes on Margot he wanted to know her better. Then after learning that she was best friends with his sister and getting to know her better, he set himself on a course to pursue her in a way that was so sweet.
I also loved the strong thread of faith through the course of this book and how Margot had to learn to trust God with the unknown. The two of them together (Drake & Margot) made such a great team as they worked together in the “spy” network during the war! I can’t wait to read the rest of this series and *hopefully* continue learning more about these character!
I received a free copy from the author. No review, positive or otherwise, was required — all opinions are my own.
