“Out of the Storm” Book Review
Welcome back to Rachel’s Back Talk! I’m so glad you could join me again. Today I am reviewing Jody Hedlund’s novella, Out of the Storm. This is a prequel to her new series “Beacons of Hope” and it is FREE on Amazon Kindle!! A no-brainer in my book!!
As is my custom, if I could ask Jody one question about Out of the Storm, it would be — “What made you want to write a series about different lighthouses?” And if you want to know why I asked that question, I guess you’ll just have to read the book to find out!
And without further ado, on to Rachel’s Back Talk!
From the Back Cover:
Having grown up in a lighthouse, loneliness is all Isabelle Thornton has ever known–and all, she assumes, she ever will know. But when her lightkeeper father rescues a young man from the lake, her sheltered world is turned upside down.
Bestselling author Jody Hedlund’s Out of the Storm is her first ever novella and introduces readers to Beacons of Hope, a new series set in the 1800s amid the romance, history, and danger surrounding the Great Lakes lighthouses of Michigan.

Out of the Storm was a short, yet sweet story. This was the first novella that I have read and I was quite pleased! It was an easy read with not a lot of characters to follow, yet it held me in! I pretty much read this book in two days because I had to see what was going to happen. There were many wonderful moments and an intensity that kept my eyes glued to the page.
Isabelle was a inspiring character to read about. You could definitely see her struggle with obeying her father, yet wanting to spending more time with the visitor. In the end, she decided that true love was worth risking everything, even if it broke her heart.
All in all, I loved this book! It was nice to have novella that was an easy read, but could still inspire.
