“To Win Her Heart” Book Review

Aug 3, 2015 by

Welcome back to Rachel’s Back Talk! I’m so glad you could join me again. Today I am reviewing Karen Witemeyer’s book, To Win Her Heart.

As is my custom, if I could ask Karen one question about To Win Her Heart it would be — “Where did you get the to combine a librarian and a blacksmith?” And if you want to know why I asked that question, I guess you’ll just have to read the book to find out!

And without further ado, onto Rachel’s Back Talk!

From the Back Cover:

After completing his sentence for the unintentional crime that derailed his youthful plans for fame and fortune, Levi Grant looks to start over in the town of Spencer, Texas. Spencer needs a blacksmith, a trade he learned at his father’s knee, and he needs a place where no one knows his past.

Eden Spencer has sworn off men, choosing instead to devote her time to the lending library she runs in the town her father founded. When a mountain-sized stranger walks through her door and asks to borrow a book, she’s reluctant to trust him. Yet as the mysteries of the town’s new blacksmith unfold, Eden discovers hidden depths in him that tempt her heart.

Eden believes she’s finally found a man of honor and integrity. But when the truth about Levi’s prodigal past comes to light, can this tarnished hero find a way to win back the librarian’s affections?

My first book by Karen and it was superb! I loved reading Eden and Levi’s story. Karen really made them come alive and I found myself relating to Eden, the calm, crafty librarian.

The dynamic between Eden, the librarian who hates fighting, and Levi, the blacksmith who loves reading, was great! It was neat seeing how Eden’s first impression of Levi changed as she began to get to know him between. Honesty was a crucial part of the story and I loved how Eden was eventually able to trust Levi and believe him. No one is perfect, even Eden, and it was great to see that lesson of honesty and forgiveness fleshed out.

Overall, a great book and I can’t wait to read more of Karen’s books!
