“Chivalrous” Book Review
Welcome back to Rachel’s Back Talk! I’m so glad you could join me again. Today I am reviewing Dina Sleiman’s book, Chivalrous, the second book in her Valiant Hearts series.
As is my custom, if I could ask Dina one question about Chivalrous it would be — “What made you want to write about a King Arthur legend?” And if you want to know why I asked that question, I guess you’ll just have to read the book to find out!

Dina Sleiman wove a captivating tale again! I enjoyed reading something that is a little different than what I usually read. Her stories take you to a different time and remind you of Robin Hood.
I loved Gwendolyn. She was such a strong heroine, but even the strong ones can get broken down. Just when she thought she had something, it was snatched away. It was neat to see though how Gwen came to realize that the Lord could provide her strength all the time and she didn’t need to carry all her burdens alone.
And then Sir Allen of Ellsworth. How glad I was to see a story about him! Allen never accounted for much, then it seems to fall into his lap. But as his pride begins to melt away, he realizes that status and money can’t buy what he really wants — love.

Hi Rachel, the simplest answer to your question is that my premise for this whole series was to put young medieval women in iconic roles. So the King Arthur style night was a must. But I also love movies like First Knight and A Knight’s Tale, and one of my favorite novels in high school was Ivanhoe.
